The Colts and quarterback Andrew Luck didn’t fare too well last week as Luck threw a pair of interceptions and was sacked four times. He played better in the second half after his team had fallen into a 27-0 hole as he threw three touchdown passes as his team fought back with 21 straight points. Luck ended the game by completing 23 of his 44 pass attempts for 333 yards. Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton caught a pair of passes for touchdowns in the third quarter and had four catches for 150 yards. Donte Moncrief scored the other touchdown, but gained just 34 yards on four receptions.

The Colts will be up against a good Panthers’ pass defense as Carolina allows only 229.8 yards in the air against per game, which is the eighth-lowest in the NFL. The Panthers also have nine pick offs which ranks them second. Indianapolis will need a good ground game to be successful and will be depending on running back Frank Gore, who carried the ball nine times for 43 yards last week. Carolina concedes 110 yards on the ground each game and 4.3 yards each carry. Indianapolis will try to pressure Carolina quarterback Cam Newton into mistakes as he was picked off three times last weekend.

Colts’ strong safety Mike Adams leads the league with four pickoffs and Vontae Davis was credited with his first interception last week. Indianapolis has been beaten six straight times by teams from the NFC South and are 1-5 against the spread in those games.

Along with his three interceptions against the Eagles, Newton threw a touchdown pass and gained 197 yards in the air. He was helped out by Jonathan Stewart though as he carried the ball 24 times for 125 yards. Newton also chipped in on the ground with 20 yards and scored a touchdown on a two-yard run. In addition, fullback Mike Tolbert scored a pair of touchdowns. The Panthers’ passing game should be better against the Colts as they allow a fifth-worst 285.9 yards against in the air per game and they’ve also conceded a dozen touchdowns in the air.

Look for Carolina tight end Greg Olsen to be a factor since he leads the team with three touchdowns and 439 yards. Defensively, defensive tackle Kawann Short recorded three sacks last week and could also be a key player. Carolina heads into the game 5-1 against the spread this campaign, but could be in for a surprise on Monday night.
